The first site inspection with the client, a large multi-service provider based in Germany, was in November 2014. The client contacted us looking for a team building/incentive activity out of the ordinary for 160 people with an Italian touch. Together we planned, organized and realized a tailor-made activity according to the clients specific needs. The result: two days of gastronomy, music, sports and fun.
The first day, around five o’clock in the afternoon, by the lake in front of the hotel the guests are welcomed by the captains that will bring them to the first stop – Isola Pescatori. Together with a singing coach they warm up their vocal cords, study text and melody and sing, in unison…VOLARE!
After this fun and original warm-up, the guests get back on board the boats to move on to Isola Bella for an evening of Festa Italiana. They are welcomed on the lake front with an open-air aperitif and buffet with a magical view of the sunset on Lake Maggiore, after which they are escorted upstairs to the terrace for dinner. Afterwards, the lower floor transforms into a disco where the guests dance and have fun until late night before they go back to the hotel.
The next day is dedicated to the sporty team building activity: an unconventional triathlon. The group is divided into 9 teams, organized in three large groups which rotate from one location to the other for the three challenges.
1st challenge – Dragon boat : Tets of physical strength, synchronisation and orientation. After a short briefing with an instructor the teams get on board the boats and off they go! After a few test rows, all the team members have to row in synchronized motion across a specific route to be the first to reach the finish line.
2nd challenge – Bike : Test of technique and balance. The participants are equipped with bicycle and helmet and depart, one by one, following a dirt track where they are assigned points or penalties depending on their performance in the most critical passages.
3rd challenge – Cooking : Test of collaboration and organisation under stress. The teams find themselves in front of a table full of bowls, whisks, spatulas and ingredients for…tiramisu! The score is assigned based on collaboration, presentation and taste.
After the challenges the participants enjoy a relaxing aperitif on the beach while the judges count the scores. The winning team is announced and awarded followed by an evening of fine dining and entertainment in one of the most stunning locations on the lake’s shores. At the end of the dinner there is a surprise dessert…the tiramisu made by the participants!
