We leave the shores of Lake Maggiore to reach Domodossola, the main town of the Ossola Valley. With a small panoramic train we arrive in the town of Verigo from where we begin a pleasant walk through the Ossola nature.
As we draw nearer to our destination we begin to perceive the sound of an accordion, the happy chatter of a group of people and the scent of the lit grill. We arrive in the historic town of Trontano, where we find the “Donne del Parco” engaged in handicraft and accompanied by the music of an accordionist. Behind the women we can see the men standing around the grill, throwing on ribs, sausages, pork chops and vegetables that release an exquisite aroma in the mountain air.
We find ourselves in a real traditional mountain feast, complete with music and typical cuisine. We sit down for a generous and informal lunch, in this framework of authentic local life.
When we are full and satisfied, we can enjoy an afternoon outdoors. Archery, horseshoe pitching and penalty shooting are some of the activities to try out before returning to the lake in the evening.
